From Heartbreak to Dream Home: The Miller Family Story

Buying a home is rarely a straight path — and the Miller family’s journey proves that.
I’ve known Melinda and Michael Miller for nearly 20 years. We went to high school together, and watching their high school sweetheart story stand the test of time has been special. Last year, I had the honor of helping them sell their first home, and this year we began the search for their next chapter.
We found a home in Radcliff that Melinda loved, but inspection issues surfaced and repair requests were denied. It was disappointing and emotional — but we stayed focused on the bigger goal: finding a home they could grow into for the next 10–15 years.
That’s when I suggested meeting with Fischer Homes Sales Counselor KaDee. We toured new construction options in Mt. Washington and Shepherdsville, narrowing the choice down to two homes: a two-story in Mt. Washington and a ranch-style in Shepherdsville.
Michael knew which one he wanted — but patiently waited for the boss to come to the same conclusion. And she did.
The ranch-style home in Shepherdsville was the perfect fit. With amenities including a pool, community center, cabana, playground, and a lake where Michael can fish with his children, just like he did with his father, it checked every box.
The Millers signed that same day and waited for construction to finish. On February 20, 2026, we sat at the closing table with smiles all around as they officially became homeowners once again.
And in a small-world moment, they now live next door to another family I helped purchase a Fischer home in 2025. Even more special — Michael’s father was a Navy veteran, and his new neighbor is as well. Something tells me many great stories will be shared between those families.
