This weekend is Memorial Day, when we honor those who have fallen keeping us all free here at home!
Mortgage rates rose this week on fears of a possible default on the nations debt. Rates rose to 6.57% on average on a 30-year fixed rate mortgage, up from last weeks 6.39%. The possibility from the Federal Reserve of more rate hikes due to stronger than expected economic conditions also looms in the future. Experts predict rates to average about 6% this year and also predict home prices to rise this year as well, though at a slower pace than past years.
In the Louisville Real Estate Market, the housing market continues to remain in Hot Seller's Market territory. Today, 1,530 listings are live on the market here in the Louisville Multiple Listing Service. In the Lexington Multiple Listing Service we have 2,108 listings that are active and on the market. And in the Northern Kentucky Multiple Listing Service we have 654 for a combined total of 4,292 listings on the market. The absorption rate or months worth of inventory sits at 1.33 months continuing to indiciate a Seller's Market in Louisville, Kentucky.
